Course Overview:

This course provides a strong grounding in sterilization and the skills and techniques needed to achieve excellence in CSSD.

You will learn about infection control and prevention measures in CSSD during COVID- 19 and how to clean, inspect, package, sterilize, and distribute instruments and equipment for surgical and clinical procedures.

Element 1: Understand the fundamentals of the sciences of microbiology, sterilization, and disinfection.
Element 2: Discuss the regulatory AAMI and ISO standards.
Element 3: Discuss the fundamentals of cleaning and decontamination in CSSD.
Element 4: Manage instrument preparation and packaging in CSSD.
Element 5: Recognize steam sterilization and low temperature sterilization.
Element 6: Understand the sterility assurance and documentation.
Element 7: Recognize the infection control measures in CSSD.
