Course Overview:

This course is based on clinical evidence and recommendations for infection control practices in the delivery of safe endoscopy procedures.

The training equips the endoscope reprocessing professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to improve their competency and achieve safety. This includes pre-clean, test, decontaminate, inspect, disinfect, sterilize and how to transport and store the endoscopes in the hospitals.

The course is compliant with industry standards, guidelines and regulations ( CDC, APIC, WHO, IAHCSMM) and manufacturers’ instructions for use.

Course Outline:

The workshop covers 5 elements organized into specific discussions around:

Element 1: Understand and execute the hand hygiene concept in endoscopy settings.
Element 2: Discuss the different types of personal protective equipment for preventing patient and healthcare worker contact with potentially infectious materials.
Element 3: Recognize the appropriate strategies and recommendations for reprocessing flexible gastrointestinal endoscopies.
Element 4: Create policies and procedures that adhere to standards of care to prevent and manage the infections associated with endoscopies.
Element 5: Create and maintain a safe environment for patient care by adhering to best practices for cleaning, disinfecting and sterilizing.
